Deliverance

Eph 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 

Eph 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 

Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 

Eph 6:13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 

This scripture brings to light the fact that the spiritual world is real and all around us every day. We tend to think that life is all about the material world around us and we spend all our time trying to make our lives more comfortable materially.

While there is a place for the laying on of hands or speaking directly to spirits of darkness to deliver another person from torment, perhaps we ought to examine ourselves,  understanding that every one of us is in this war between the two kingdoms every single day. This battle is going on in our souls (mind, will and emotions). And it will continue to do so until we go through the veil.

The bible says we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. It also says we are made in the image of God. So life is all about God’s sovereignty and the decisions we make every day. We have much more power in our thoughts and actions than we realize. If you take the bible literally, and I do, if you have the faith of a mustard seed you can say to that mountain move there and it will. We generally do not have that kind of understanding.

So, we are to take thoughts captive every day. To what? To what the Word of God says.

I think Father’s ultimate goal for us on our journey through life is to conform us to the image of his Son. This includes us learning to control our thoughts and tongues.  Words are extremely important and powerful in this life, and come from thoughts we have.  The bible speaks extensively about words.  For example:

Mat_12:37  "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." 

Mar_13:31  "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. 

Joh_14:10  "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. 

Mat_24:35  "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. 

Joh_6:63  "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. 

Our daily walk relating to the spirits of darkness we deal with, has much to do with the thoughts we walk out  and what we say.

I know Henry Wright’s book “A More Excellent Way” is more about physical healing, but it highlights the power of our thoughts and what we say.  Our lives are made up of the summation of all our decisions each moment. So it is time to change our stinking thinking before we speak it.  There is another book I would recommend entitled “Switch on your Brain” by Dr. Caroline Leaf.
